The Ruby Land of Myanmar

Mogok city, the Ruby Land of Myanmar, is surrounded by the hills.  It is about 4 hr drives to the north from Mandalay.  The road and the scene along the way is lovely!  Coz it is a drive way long the uphill all the way to the city.

Why is it call the ruby land?  A few decades back, in the city, people don't even need to dig out to get a ruby or sapphire.  Low quality stones and rough stones were being played by the kids and used in every other place of the house.  Rough stones are everywhere during that time but not much now a days unless you dig them out.

The local food is a little similar to the Northern Path of Myanmar, Shan food, yet different.  The side salad and the taste is simply lovely!

As for accommodation, not much of a choice you would have.  Either a motel in town or A lovely hotel which is pretty far from the town area.  A lot of tourist come down to this town to check @ "Htar Pwel", the meaning of "Htar" is sun for the local, it is practically a market which is selling of those sapphire & ruby under the sun light.

Other than that you can go down to check out the old digging site of the ruby and sapphires!  Cheer!
